Answer
Real-time strategy
Star Wars: Force Commander is a real-time strategy game.
Released in 2000, Force Commander is a real-time strategy title co-developed by LucasArts and Ronin Entertainment and published by LucasArts for Windows. Instead of controlling one hero in a conventional action game, players direct military forces from an overhead viewpoint, manage units, and complete battlefield objectives.
The campaign follows Imperial officer Brenn Tantor and later shifts toward the Rebel Alliance. Its story takes place between A New Hope and Return of the Jedi, including versions of major conflicts such as the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor. The game focuses on ground combat and does not include space battles.
Force Commander is sometimes mistaken for an action-adventure game because it uses a 3D camera and presents a cinematic Star Wars story. Its defining structure, however, is strategic command. It was also notable as the first Star Wars strategy game rendered fully in 3D, although critics often complained about its controls and camera.
The soundtrack reworked John Williams themes with hard-rock and techno influences by composer Peter McConnell.
