Charjabug is the Generation VII Pokémon able to store electricity and share it with other Pokémon. Its Pokédex descriptions portray it as a living battery, with an electric sac inside its body.
Charjabug generates electricity through digestion. In the Pokémon Sun and Moon descriptions, the energy comes from food and is stored in its electric sac. Other entries emphasize that it can hold enough electricity to power a household for an entire day, making the creature’s battery theme unusually literal.
Charjabug is a Bug/Electric-type Pokémon and the evolved form of Grubbin. It later evolves into Vikavolt, a larger flying beetle-like Pokémon. In the Alola games, Charjabug evolves near a special magnetic field; in later games, a Thunder Stone can be used instead.
A common mix-up is confusing Charjabug with Vikavolt. Vikavolt can carry Charjabug as a spare battery in some Pokédex entries, but Charjabug is the Pokémon specifically described as storing and supplying electricity. Its National Pokédex number is 737.
