Former New England Patriot Andre Tippett delivered his Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement speech on August 2, 2008. The linebacker was inducted as part of the Hall’s 2008 class in Canton, Ohio.
Tippett spent his entire NFL career with the Patriots, playing from 1982 through 1993. He became one of the dominant pass rushers of the 1980s, earning five Pro Bowl selections and a place on the NFL’s All-Decade Team for that decade. He finished his career with 100 sacks, a major milestone for a player who spent much of his career before the NFL officially recorded sacks as an individual statistic.
The 2008 ceremony also inducted Fred Dean, Darrell Green, Art Monk, Emmitt Thomas, and Gary Zimmerman. Tippett’s selection recognized both his production and his impact on New England’s defense. He later remained closely associated with the Patriots, including work with the organization’s community and alumni efforts.
