The former NBA star who hosted “Saturday Night Live” in 2018 was Charles Barkley. He hosted the NBC comedy programme on March 3, 2018, with the hip-hop group Migos as musical guest.

Barkley was already a familiar television personality by then, working as an analyst on TNT’s Inside the NBA. His outspoken humour, larger-than-life personality and willingness to make himself the subject of jokes made him a natural fit for live sketch comedy.

The 2018 appearance was not his first time hosting. Barkley had previously led SNL episodes in 1993, 2010 and 2012, making the 2018 show his fourth hosting appearance. Several sketches played with his basketball reputation and his famously direct opinions.
