AREA customized the diamond-lined bralette worn by Taylor Swift on The Life of a Showgirl cover.
The standard cover depicts Swift half-submerged in water while wearing a bralette covered with diamond-like embellishment. The garment was customized by AREA, a fashion label known for crystal-heavy and sculptural designs.
The cover’s imagery also references John Everett Millais’s Ophelia, an 1850s painting inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet. That reference is separate from the fashion credit: Millais created the painting, while AREA customized the garment used in Swift’s modern reinterpretation.
Other showgirl-related clothing in the album campaign came from a different source. A rhinestone-encrusted costume associated with another artwork was originally designed by Bob Mackie for the Las Vegas production Jubilee!
