The English title used for the Icelandic Dracula adaptation Makt Myrkranna is Powers of Darkness.

Makt Myrkranna was serialized in the Reykjavík newspaper Fjallkonan from 1900 to 1901 and appeared as a book in 1901. It was credited to Valdimar Ásmundsson as an Icelandic translation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, but it is substantially different from Stoker’s published novel.

The title became especially notable after research showed that the Icelandic text was based on an earlier Swedish Dracula adaptation, Mörkrets makter. Both Icelandic and Swedish titles mean “Powers of Darkness.” Hans Corneel de Roos published an English translation in 2017 under the title Powers of Darkness: The Lost Version of Dracula.

A common mix-up is treating the book as a straightforward translation of Dracula. It is better described as an adaptation or variant, with altered characters, setting details, tone, and plot elements. “Shadow of Dracula” and the other choices are not its established English title.
