Telegram calls its one-way feeds for unlimited subscribers channels.
A channel is Telegram’s broadcast-oriented format: owners and administrators publish posts, while subscribers primarily read them. Telegram says channels can have an unlimited number of subscribers, making them distinct from groups, which are designed for two-way discussion and have member limits.
Channels are useful for announcements, news, public updates, and media distribution. Posts are generally signed with the channel’s name rather than the individual administrator’s identity, and each post has a view counter. Public channels can have usernames and permanent links, while private channels are joined through invitations.
A common mix-up is treating channels and groups as interchangeable. Groups support conversation among members; channels are primarily publishing feeds. Channel owners can connect a discussion group, however, allowing subscribers to comment on channel posts without turning the main feed into an ordinary group chat.
