What does RDA stand for in Avatar: Fire and Ash?

The story behind the answer

RDA stands for Resources Development Administration in Avatar: Fire and Ash. It is the powerful human organization responsible for industrial activity, military operations, and resource extraction on Pandora.

The RDA first arrived in the Avatar story because Earth had become environmentally damaged and increasingly short of valuable resources. Pandora offered materials that could support human industry, including unobtanium in the original film and other commercially valuable biological resources in later installments. Its activities bring human personnel, machinery, bases, aircraft, and armed forces into conflict with the Na’vi.

The RDA is more than a simple mining company. Across the Avatar films, it functions as a corporation with scientific, logistical, security, and military capabilities. Its colonization plans place it at the center of the larger struggle over Pandora’s land, wildlife, and ecosystems. The name is sometimes misremembered as Resource Discovery Agency or another military-style title, but the canonical expansion is Resources Development Administration.
