What did Christian Dior study at the École des Sciences Politiques in Paris?

The story behind the answer

Christian Dior studied political science at the École des Sciences Politiques in Paris.

Dior attended the institution in the 1920s, following his family’s hopes that he might pursue a diplomatic career. His education was not primarily artistic or technical, even though he later became one of the twentieth century’s most influential fashion designers.

After his studies, Dior moved toward the arts through friendships, illustration, and gallery work. He helped run an art gallery before becoming a fashion illustrator and later working for established couture houses. These experiences gradually redirected him from the career his family had imagined.

The school is now commonly known as Sciences Po. Dior’s time there is therefore an important example of how his early education differed from the professional path he eventually chose.
