A waltz is traditionally associated with a quinceañera’s formal court presentation.
The honoree may perform a choreographed waltz with members of her court, often called damas and chambelanes. The dance gives the celebration a formal public moment and allows the family to present the honoree to guests.
Modern celebrations are not limited to one style. Families frequently add contemporary pop routines, regional dances, or several choreographed numbers after the traditional waltz. These additions vary by country, family, venue, and personal preference.
The waltz is therefore a strong traditional association, not a universal requirement. A court may perform more than one dance, and some families omit the court entirely while retaining other ceremonial elements.
