Michel Macedo represented Brazil in the slalom competition at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics.
Macedo competed in alpine skiing, one of the Winter Games disciplines involving speed, balance, and precise turns through a marked course. Brazil sent a small delegation to PyeongChang, reflecting the country's limited winter-sports tradition compared with nations in Europe and North America.
Brazil's team also included snowboarder Isabel Clark, figure skater Isadora Williams, cross-country skiers Jaqueline Mourão and Victor Santos, and bobsled competitors. Macedo was the country's alpine-skiing representative at those Games.
A common mix-up is confusing Brazil with Macedonia, which also competed at PyeongChang. The similarly named countries were separate Olympic delegations: Brazil is in South America, while Macedonia—now officially North Macedonia—is in southeastern Europe. Macedo later qualified to represent Brazil again at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
