The F-150 is the best-known member of Ford’s F-Series, a family of full-size pickup trucks marketed by Ford Motor Company. The F-Series began with the 1948 model year, while the F-150 name was introduced in 1975. Since 1984, it has served as the entry-level full-size F-Series pickup above the smaller Ford Ranger.

The F-150 is offered in multiple cab, bed and powertrain configurations, including rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions. Ford has also used the F-150 platform for specialist models such as the off-road Raptor and the battery-electric F-150 Lightning.

The F-150 is often confused with the F-250 and F-350, but those are heavier-duty models. Since 1999, Ford has grouped them primarily under the Super Duty name. The F-Series has remained a major part of Ford’s North American business and has been the best-selling pickup line in the United States since 1977.
