What community college has a campus in Hollister, California?
Answer
Gavilan College
Answer
Gavilan College
Gavilan College is the community college with a campus in Hollister, California.
Gavilan College began in 1919 as San Benito County Junior College, with early instruction offered at Hollister High School. In 1963, it became part of a broader community college district serving San Benito County and southern Santa Clara County. The college’s main campus later moved to Gilroy, but Hollister remained an important instructional location.
A Hollister instructional site was added in 1997 to make college classes and support services more accessible to residents of San Benito County. That downtown site was later replaced by a new Hollister campus, whose first phase opened for classes in 2025. This history can cause confusion because some older references describe the location as a satellite site rather than a full campus.
Gavilan offers associate degrees, career certificates, transfer preparation, and technical programs. Its campuses and instructional sites serve a large district stretching across parts of Santa Clara and San Benito counties.
