What comedian plays Richie's FBI boss in "American Hustle"?
Answer
Louis C.K.
Louis C.K. plays Richie's FBI boss in American Hustle.
His character is Stoddard Thorsen, the senior FBI official overseeing Bradley Cooper's ambitious agent, Richie DiMaso. Richie becomes increasingly reckless while expanding the Abscam-inspired sting operation, and Thorsen serves as an institutional counterweight to his impulsiveness.
American Hustle is David O. Russell's 2013 crime comedy-drama, loosely based on the FBI's Abscam investigation of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The film fictionalizes and combines several real people, so its characters should not be treated as exact biographical portraits.
A common mix-up is confusing Louis C.K.'s role with Bradley Cooper's: Cooper plays Richie, while Louis C.K. plays his superior. Christian Bale plays con artist Irving Rosenfeld, the man Richie pressures into helping the operation.
