The Starbucks siren logo is primarily associated with the color green.
The green-and-white version became the company’s best-known visual identity after a major redesign in 1987, when Howard Schultz’s Il Giornale merged with the original Starbucks business. Earlier versions of the logo used a brown color scheme and included more detailed imagery.
The logo’s central figure is a stylized siren, a mythical sea figure connected to the company’s maritime name and Seattle setting. The wordmark and surrounding details have changed over time, but green has remained strongly linked with Starbucks stores, packaging, uniforms, and signs.
A common mix-up is treating green as part of the original 1971 branding. The earliest Starbucks logo was brown, not green. The modern emblem also removed the company name from the central symbol in 2011, leaving the siren image by itself.
