Merryweather’s dress is blue in Disney’s 1959 animated film Sleeping Beauty.
Merryweather is one of Aurora’s three good fairies, alongside Flora and Fauna. The fairies have distinct signature colors: Flora is associated with red, Fauna with green, and Merryweather with blue. Their color coding helps viewers tell the similarly styled characters apart, especially during fast-moving scenes.
The blue-versus-pink argument is a common mix-up. Flora and Merryweather repeatedly use magic to change the color of Aurora’s birthday dress, alternating between pink and blue. That scene concerns Aurora’s dress, not Merryweather’s own clothing. The film’s visual design was led by Eyvind Earle, whose stylized medieval-inspired backgrounds and bold colors give Sleeping Beauty its distinctive appearance.
