What color is the bullseye in Target’s logo?

The story behind the answer

The bullseye in Target’s logo is red.

Target introduced its bullseye symbol in 1962, when the retailer was developing a name and identity that would stand out in a crowded market. The concentric red-and-white circles were designed to make the idea of a target immediately recognizable and to connect visually with the company name.

The mark normally consists of a red outer ring, a white middle ring, and a red center. Although the exact presentation can vary in signage and advertising, red is the defining brand color of the bullseye.

The logo is sometimes described as a target or as a dartboard, but its official brand role is the Target bullseye. The retailer’s mascot, Bullseye the dog, was introduced much later, in 1999, and is a separate character rather than the logo itself.
