A last doll is the childhood-themed gift traditionally presented to a quinceañera.
The ceremony is commonly known in Spanish as the entrega de la última muñeca, meaning “presentation of the last doll.” A parent or another important relative gives the doll to symbolize the honoree’s transition away from childhood.
The doll may be dressed to resemble the quinceañera, and families sometimes preserve it as a keepsake. The presentation is one of several symbolic moments that can appear in the celebration, alongside a shoe change, a tiara presentation, or a formal father-daughter dance.
This custom is not universal. Some families replace the doll with another meaningful gift, and many modern celebrations omit the ritual entirely. When it is included, its significance is symbolic rather than a claim that the honoree literally stops enjoying childhood interests after turning fifteen.
