What car was nicknamed the "Batmobile"?

The Lincoln Futura was the car nicknamed the “Batmobile.”

The Futura began as a one-off 1955 concept car created by Ford's Lincoln styling team. It was hand-built by Ghia in Turin, Italy, and displayed dramatic tailfins, twin bubble-like cockpit canopies, and a futuristic body. Although it was never mass-produced, its unusual design made it recognizable in automotive and popular-culture history.

In 1965, customizer George Barris transformed the Futura into the Batmobile for the 1966 Batman television series and its movie adaptation. The conversion added the distinctive black finish, red trim, bat-shaped styling cues, and specialized nose and canopy details. The television Batmobile became one of the most famous screen cars ever made.

The Futura is sometimes confused with later Batmobiles, including the 1989 film car and the heavily armored vehicle from 201 Batman v Superman. Those were different designs. The classic 1960s Batmobile, however, was based directly on the Lincoln Futura.
