What cable is required to play the GameCube version of Pac-Man Vs.?
Answer
GameCube-Game Boy Advance link cable
Answer
GameCube-Game Boy Advance link cable
A GameCube–Game Boy Advance link cable is required to play the GameCube version of Pac-Man Vs. The cable connects a Game Boy Advance to a GameCube controller port, allowing the handheld to serve as Pac-Man’s private screen while the other players use GameCube controllers and the television to control the ghosts.
Nintendo EAD created Pac-Man Vs. as a technology demonstration for the GameCube’s connectivity features. Shigeru Miyamoto designed the concept, in which one player sees the maze from Pac-Man’s perspective and up to three others pursue Pac-Man as ghosts. Namco later published it as a full game in 2003.
The cable is easy to confuse with networking hardware because Pac-Man Vs. is a multiplayer title. However, the original GameCube release does not use a Broadband Adapter or Wii LAN Adapter. It specifically needs the GameCube–Game Boy Advance link cable and a compatible Game Boy Advance. Later versions changed the setup: the Nintendo DS release used Download Play, while the Nintendo Switch version used two systems for multiplayer.
