What award did Twin Peaks win for Best Television Series—Drama at the 1991 Golden Globes?

Twin Peaks won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series—Drama at the 1991 Golden Globe Awards.

The award recognized the show during its first major awards cycle, when its combination of murder mystery, melodrama, dark humor, and surreal imagery made it one of American television’s most distinctive programs. The series competed in the drama category despite frequently crossing genre boundaries.

Kyle MacLachlan also won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series—Drama for playing Dale Cooper. These wins helped establish Twin Peaks as both a popular hit and a critical landmark.

The Golden Globe victory is sometimes confused with the show’s Emmy history. Twin Peaks received multiple Emmy nominations, but the series’ headline drama-series win at the 1991 Golden Globes was a separate achievement.
