What are Snapchat's consecutive-day snapping streaks called?

The story behind the answer

Snapchat’s consecutive-day snapping streaks are called Snapstreaks. A Snapstreak begins when two friends exchange photo or video Snaps on consecutive days, creating a running count beside the friend’s name.

The flame emoji marks an active Snapstreak, while the number beside it shows how many days it has lasted. Both people must send a qualifying Snap within each 24-hour period; ordinary text-chat messages do not maintain the streak. Snapchat may show an hourglass when a streak is close to expiring.

Snapstreaks are often confused with Snapchat scores. A Snapstreak measures consecutive days of exchange with one friend, whereas a Snap score is a broader account metric influenced by Snaps sent and received and other activity. The feature is designed as a social habit-builder, encouraging friends to keep communicating regularly.

The term is commonly written as one word, “Snapstreak,” in the singular and “Snapstreaks” in the plural. “Snapseries,” “Snapruns,” and “Snapchains” are not Snapchat’s official names for the feature.
