What anniversary follows America250 in the United States’ planned sequence?

The Tricentennial follows America250 in the United States’ planned anniversary sequence.

America250 marks the semiquincentennial, or 250th anniversary, in 2026. The next major 100-year anniversary in the sequence is the tricentennial, which will mark 300 years and fall in 2076. The sequence is based on the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding era represented by 1776.

The names describe different distances from the original event. Bicentennial means 200 years and was used for the 1976 milestone. Semiquincentennial means 250 years. Tricentennial means 300 years. Quincentennial means 500 years, which would arrive in 2276. These terms are sometimes mixed up because each combines Latin-derived number elements with the word centennial, but the numerical milestones are distinct.
