What alternate English name is commonly used for the Soviet invasion of Manchuria in August 1945?

The story behind the answer

Operation August Storm is a commonly used alternate English name for the Soviet invasion of Manchuria in August 1945.

The campaign's formal Soviet designation was the Manchurian Strategic Offensive Operation, also called the Manchurian Operation. “Operation August Storm” became a widely used Western label for the offensive against Japanese forces and their puppet governments in Northeast Asia.

The operation opened on August 9, 1945, with attacks across a vast front. Soviet forces used large formations, armor, artillery, and air power against the Japanese Kwantung Army, which had been weakened by transfers of experienced troops to other fronts.

The offensive covered Manchuria, Inner Mongolia, and parts of northern Korea. Its rapid success, combined with the atomic bombings and Japan's worsening military position, contributed to the Japanese decision to accept the Potsdam Declaration and end the war.
