Aston Villa achieved a 3–1 aggregate score against Barcelona in its 1982 UEFA Super Cup.
Barcelona won the first leg 1–0 at Camp Nou, but Villa overturned the deficit in the return leg at Villa Park. The English club won that match 3–0 after extra time, producing a 3–1 aggregate victory.
Gary Shaw scored in the 80th minute, Gordon Cowans struck in the 100th minute, and Ken McNaught added the decisive third goal in the 104th minute. The match was especially dramatic because Villa finished with ten players and Barcelona with nine.
The contest is sometimes described by its calendar dates rather than its edition year: although it was the 1982 Super Cup, both matches were played in January 1983. Villa’s victory remained its only Super Cup title and previous appearance until the 2026 final.
