U.S. striker Joe-Max Moore moved to Everton in the English Premier League.
Moore joined Everton in November 1999 after playing for the New England Revolution in Major League Soccer. He impressed Everton during a seven-day trial and signed on a free transfer, making the move one of the notable early examples of an American player establishing himself in England’s top division.
He made his Everton debut later that year and scored his first league goal against Tottenham Hotspur in January 2000. Moore enjoyed a strong start, scoring five goals across a memorable run of matches during his first months at the club. Injuries and inconsistent playing time later limited his impact.
Moore remained with Everton until 2002, recording eight Premier League goals according to standard club statistics, before returning to New England. He also represented the United States at the 1994, 1998, and 2002 World Cups and finished his international career with 100 caps.
