Jamie Foxx played Electro in the 2014 film “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Foxx portrays Max Dillon, a socially isolated electrical engineer who transforms into the super-powered villain Electro after an industrial accident involving genetically altered electric eels.
The film, directed by Marc Webb, stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Foxx’s version of Electro begins as a devoted but overlooked Oscorp employee. After the accident, he gains control over electricity and becomes obsessed with Spider-Man, whom he believes has ignored or betrayed him.
Jamie Foxx is both an actor and a musician. Born Eric Bishop, he became known through comedy and television before earning major film roles, including Ray Charles in “Ray,” for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” was not his only appearance as Electro: he later reprised the role in the Marvel film “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
