The Lamborghini car company is based in Italy. Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. is headquartered and produces its cars in Sant’Agata Bolognese, in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy.
Italian manufacturing magnate Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the automobile company in 1963. He had already built a successful tractor business and wanted to create refined grand-touring cars that could challenge established marques such as Ferrari. Lamborghini’s early cars emphasized powerful engines, comfort, and striking design.
The 1966 Miura helped establish Lamborghini as a major performance-car brand and popularized the rear-mid-engine layout among high-performance road cars. Although Lamborghini is now owned by Audi, which is part of Germany’s Volkswagen Group, the brand remains Italian in origin, identity, headquarters, and principal manufacturing location. That ownership distinction is why Germany is not the answer to this question.
