Answer
Stod River
Answer
Stod River
The Drang-Drung Glacier is a source of the Stod River in Ladakh.
Also called Durung Drung, the glacier lies in the Zanskar Range near the 4,400-metre Pensi La pass on the Kargil–Zanskar road. Its meltwater feeds the Stod, also known as the Doda River, which flows through the Padum Valley.
The Stod is not the same river as the nearby Suru. The Suru drains the western side of Pensi La and is an Indus tributary, while the Stod flows eastward and joins the Tsarap Chu to form the Zanskar River. The Zanskar eventually joins the Indus.
Drang-Drung is often described as one of Ladakh’s largest glaciers after Siachen. Its striking ice valley is visible from the pass, but access is seasonal because heavy winter snow closes the high road.
