The Dinobot Scorn transforms into which dinosaur in the 2014 film "Transformers: Age of Extinction"?

The story behind the answer

In Transformers: Age of Extinction, the Dinobot Scorn transforms into a Spinosaurus.

Scorn is one of the prehistoric-looking Cybertronians introduced in Michael Bay’s 2014 live-action Transformers film. In dinosaur form, he has the long snout, powerful tail, and prominent back sail associated with Spinosaurus, though the movie presents him as a heavily stylized mechanical interpretation rather than a scientific reconstruction. He is commonly described as a three-sailed or sail-backed Spinosaurus.

Scorn fights alongside the other Dinobots after Optimus Prime frees them from captivity. The group includes Grimlock, whose alternate mode is a Tyrannosaurus rex, making him the Dinobot most likely to cause confusion in this question. Strafe is the pterosaur-like Dinobot, while Slug is based on a Triceratops.

Real Spinosaurus lived in what is now North Africa during the Cretaceous Period. Paleontologists regard it as a specialized predator adapted for a partly aquatic lifestyle, although details of its body shape and swimming ability remain subjects of scientific discussion. The film’s Scorn borrows the recognizable sail and snout but is ultimately a fantasy robot design.
