The beautiful Nefertiti was the wife of what Pharaoh?

The story behind the answer

The beautiful Nefertiti was the wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten. She was the Great Royal Wife of the 18th-Dynasty Egyptian king, who had originally been known as Amenhotep IV before changing his name to Akhenaten.

Akhenaten and Nefertiti are remembered for transforming Egyptian religious and political life. They promoted Atenism, a royal cult centered on the sun disk Aten, and established a new capital city at Akhetaten, now called Amarna. Art from this period portrays the royal couple and their daughters in unusually intimate family scenes, making Nefertiti one of the most recognizable figures of ancient Egypt.

Nefertiti and Akhenaten had at least six daughters, including Meritaten and Ankhesenpaaten, who later became known as Ankhesenamun. Nefertiti’s own later role remains debated: some scholars identify her with the female ruler Neferneferuaten. That uncertainty does not affect the quiz answer. Akhenaten was her husband, while Tutankhamun was a later pharaoh and likely her stepson, not her spouse.
