Taylor Swift performed “august” at the 2021 Grammys with “cardigan” and “Willow.”
The performance took place at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14, 2021. Swift began with “cardigan,” moved into “august,” and finished with “willow,” creating a medley that connected Folklore with its sister album, Evermore.
Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner accompanied Swift during the performance. The setting used a cottage and woodland imagery that matched Folklore’s rustic, storybook visual style. It was also the first time the three performers appeared together onstage.
“cardigan” and “august” are both from Folklore, while “willow” comes from Evermore, released later in 2020. The medley therefore linked the two surprise albums and highlighted the close creative relationship among Swift, Antonoff, and Dessner.
