Since the UEFA Super Cup left Monaco, what numbered venue was Salzburg for the 2026 final?

The story behind the answer

Salzburg was the 14th venue to host the UEFA Super Cup since the fixture left its long-term home of Monaco.

The 2026 final was played at Red Bull Arena, identified by UEFA as Stadion Salzburg. The venue followed a sequence of rotating host cities that included Prague, Cardiff, Tbilisi, Trondheim, Skopje, Tallinn, Istanbul, Budapest, Belfast, Helsinki, Piraeus, Warsaw and Udine.

This venue rotation began in 2013, after the Super Cup had traditionally been staged in Monaco. The changing locations allowed different cities to host the annual meeting between the Champions League and Europa League winners.

Salzburg’s selection was historically significant beyond the venue count. It became the first Austrian host of the UEFA Super Cup and the first city in Austria outside Vienna to stage a major European club final.

Paris Saint-Germain marked the occasion by defeating Aston Villa 2–1 and retaining the trophy.
