Saturn’s moon Pandora shepherds which planetary ring?

The story behind the answer

Saturn’s moon Pandora shepherds the planet’s F ring.

Pandora is a small inner moon of Saturn that orbits just outside the F ring. Together with the nearby moon Prometheus, it helps gravitationally shape and confine the narrow, braided ring. Prometheus orbits inside the F ring, while Pandora orbits outside it.

The F ring is one of Saturn’s most distinctive rings because it is narrow, irregular, and marked by strands and kinks. The gravitational influence of Pandora and Prometheus contributes to this complex structure, although the ring’s detailed appearance also reflects collisions and interactions among small bodies and ring particles.

Pandora is not the same object as the asteroid 55 Pandora or the mythological Pandora. The moon is an irregular, low-density body only a few dozen kilometres across and was photographed in detail by the Voyager and Cassini missions.
