Peyton Manning played for the Indianapolis Colts for 14 seasons before joining the Denver Broncos for the 2012 season.
The Colts selected Manning first overall in the 1998 NFL Draft, and he became their starting quarterback immediately. From 1998 through 2010, he started 13 full seasons. A serious neck injury then kept him from playing during the entire 2011 season, although he remained under contract with Indianapolis for that season. That is why career summaries generally describe him as spending 14 seasons with the Colts, despite appearing in games during only 13 of them.
Indianapolis released Manning in March 2012, and he signed with Denver. He played four seasons for the Broncos, from 2012 through 2015, bringing his total NFL career to 18 seasons. With the Colts, he won four of his record five regular-season MVP awards and captured Super Bowl XLI. He later won Super Bowl 50 with Denver, becoming the first starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl with two franchises.
