Taylor Swift’s “august” appears as track 8 on the 2020 album Folklore.
The placement creates a neat calendar connection: August is the eighth month of the year, and “august” is the album’s eighth song. Fans often highlight this coincidence when the annual August listening trend begins.
Folklore was Swift’s eighth studio album and was released as a surprise project during 2020. “August” sits among the record’s fictional story songs, helping build the teenage love triangle involving James, Betty, and the unnamed narrator.
The title is officially stylized in lowercase, although many headlines and fan posts capitalize it as “August.” The lowercase styling, track number, and month reference are separate facts that are frequently combined in discussions of the song.
