On which Taylor Swift studio album does “august” appear?

Taylor Swift’s “august” appears on the studio album Folklore.

Swift surprise-released Folklore on July 24, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The album marked a shift toward indie folk, alternative rock, and chamber-pop textures after the brighter pop sound of Lover.

“august” is part of Folklore’s fictional teenage love triangle, alongside “Cardigan” and “Betty.” Those songs present connected events from different perspectives, although the narrator of “august” remains unnamed.

A common mix-up is confusing Folklore with Evermore, another surprise album Swift released later in 2020. “august” belongs exclusively to Folklore and is its eighth track.
