On which Taylor Swift album was “august” released?

Taylor Swift’s “august” was released on the album Folklore.

Folklore is Swift’s eighth studio album, released by Republic Records on July 24, 2020. Swift announced it only hours before release, making it a surprise album created during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“august” is one of Folklore’s fictional story songs. Its narrator recalls a brief summer romance involving James, who is connected to Betty in the album’s recurring teenage love triangle. The song’s late-summer setting helped it become especially associated with August each year.

A common mix-up is confusing Folklore with Evermore, Swift’s ninth studio album, which followed in December 2020. Although both albums were made during the same creative period, “august” belongs specifically to Folklore.
