On which stock exchange are Berkshire Hathaway shares listed?
Answer
New York Stock Exchange
Answer
New York Stock Exchange
Berkshire Hathaway shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The company’s two publicly traded share classes use the NYSE ticker symbols BRK.A for Class A and BRK.B for Class B.
Class A shares represent Berkshire’s original high-denomination equity and carry substantially greater voting power. Class B shares were created in 1996 to make Berkshire ownership more accessible to investors who could not or did not want to purchase a Class A share. Berkshire later split each Class A share into 1,500 Class B shares when the B shares were introduced.
Nasdaq is the most common wrong answer because many large technology and growth companies trade there, but Berkshire is not a Nasdaq-listed company. Tokyo and London are also incorrect: Berkshire is a U.S. corporation whose common stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange.
