House M.D. originally premiered on Fox.
The series debuted on the American broadcast network Fox on November 16, 2004. Its format combined a hospital drama with a medical mystery: each episode generally began with a puzzling illness and followed House’s team as they tested competing diagnoses.
Fox’s scheduling and promotion helped the program reach a large audience, and House eventually became one of the network’s signature dramas. It was produced by Heel and Toe Films, Shore Z Productions, and Bad Hat Harry Productions in association with Universal Television for much of its run.
Viewers sometimes confuse Fox with the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro hospital, but they are different things: Fox was the real television network, while Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital was the invented setting. The show remained on Fox for all eight seasons, ending with its final episode in May 2012.
