On which continent is Poland located?

Poland is located in Europe. It lies in Central Europe, bordered by Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast.

Poland has a coastline on the Baltic Sea and occupies a strategic position between Western and Eastern Europe. Its landscape includes Baltic beaches, central lowlands, lake districts and the Carpathian and Sudeten mountain ranges in the south.

A common mix-up is placing Poland in Eastern Europe because of its postwar political history and former membership in the Eastern Bloc. Geographically, however, Poland is generally classified as a Central European country. It is also one of Europe’s larger countries by area and population.

Warsaw, Poland’s capital and largest city, sits on the Vistula River. Kraków, the former royal capital, remains one of the country’s best-known historic cities.
