On which continent is China located?

China is located on the continent of Asia.

More specifically, China occupies much of East Asia, along the western Pacific coast. It is the world's third- or fourth-largest country by total area depending on how disputed borders and measurements are counted, and it is among the most populous countries on Earth. Its geography ranges from Himalayan highlands and western deserts to broad eastern plains, major river valleys, and subtropical coastlines.

China shares land borders with 14 countries, including Russia, Mongolia, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, and North Korea. The country is often described as part of East Asia, a subregion within the larger continent of Asia. Hong Kong and Macau are also located on the Asian mainland, though they have distinct administrative arrangements.

A common confusion comes from the fact that Asia and Europe form one continuous landmass, Eurasia. Their boundary is partly geographical and partly historical, but China is unambiguously classified as an Asian country and lies east of the conventional Europe-Asia boundary.
