On which Billboard chart did Taylor Swift’s “august” debut and peak at No. 5?

Taylor Swift’s “august” debuted and peaked at No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.

The song reached that position when Taylor Swift released Folklore on July 24, 2020. Although “august” was not issued as a conventional lead single, the album’s release sent several tracks onto charts worldwide.

The Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart ranks songs using a combination of streaming, sales, and radio-airplay data in the rock and alternative categories. “August” fits the chart’s broad alternative profile through its dream-pop, guitar-pop, and soft-rock elements.

The No. 5 peak is different from the song’s performance on the US Billboard Hot 100, where it debuted at No. 23. It also later reached No. 46 on the Billboard Global 200 during its recurring August resurgence.
