On which Barcelona street is Palau Güell situated?

The story behind the answer

Palau Güell is situated on Carrer Nou de la Rambla in Barcelona. The mansion stands in the El Raval neighbourhood, close to the southern edge of the city’s historic centre.

Antoni Gaudí designed the palace for the industrialist and politician Eusebi Güell, one of his most important patrons. It was built between 1886 and 1888 as an urban residence and a setting for Güell’s family life and lavish social events. The project helped establish the close professional relationship that later produced several famous Gaudí works.

The building is organised around a grand central room used to entertain high society. Guests and carriages entered through elaborate iron gates, whose forms include a parabolic arch and decorative shapes inspired by seaweed and a horsewhip. Above, the rooftop is marked by colourful chimneys and ventilator towers.

Visitors sometimes confuse the palace’s street with Passeig de Gràcia, where Casa Batlló and Casa Milà are located. Palau Güell is instead in El Raval, and its address on Carrer Nou de la Rambla is one of its defining geographic clues.
