On what date were Pokémon Sword and Shield released worldwide?

Pokémon Sword and Shield were released worldwide on November 15, 2019. Developed by Game Freak, they were published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch.

The games began Generation VIII of the main Pokémon role-playing series. Their setting, the Galar region, was inspired partly by the geography and culture of Great Britain. Sword and Shield introduced new Pokémon, the Dynamax and Gigantamax battle mechanics, and large explorable Wild Areas.

The release date is sometimes confused with the Nintendo Switch’s launch date or with the 2021 release of the games’ expansion pass content. Sword and Shield were the first core Pokémon games designed specifically for Nintendo’s hybrid home-and-portable console.
