On what date was the 30th-anniversary remastered edition of Metallica’s The Black Album released?
Answer
September 10, 2021
The 30th-anniversary remastered edition of Metallica’s The Black Album was released on September 10, 2021.
The reissue marked three decades since the original album’s 1991 release. It was remastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering, with Greg Fidelman overseeing the expanded project as executive producer.
The campaign included more than a standard remastered album. A limited-edition box set contained the remastered record on a 180-gram double LP and CD, along with live recordings, demos, DVDs, and other archival material from the album era.
The anniversary edition also arrived alongside The Metallica Blacklist, a large covers collection featuring artists performing songs from the album. Together, the releases revisited both the original studio record and its long influence on musicians across different genres.
