On what date was the 2026 UEFA Super Cup host venue selected?

The story behind the answer

The 2026 UEFA Super Cup host venue was selected on 11 September 2025.

UEFA’s Executive Committee chose the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg during a meeting in Tirana, Albania. The decision came nearly eleven months before the final was played on 12 August 2026.

The selection gave Austria its first UEFA Super Cup. It also made Salzburg the first Austrian city outside Vienna to host a major European club final. Earlier major European finals in Austria had been staged at Vienna’s Ernst-Happel-Stadion.

The chosen ground had already hosted international football, including three UEFA Euro 2008 group matches. UEFA later referred to the venue as Stadion Salzburg in competition communications because of restrictions on third-party sponsorship names.
