On what date was Star Wars Jedi: Survivor first released?

The story behind the answer

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was first released on April 28, 2023.

That launch covered the PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S versions. Electronic Arts had originally announced March 17, 2023, but delayed the game to allow Respawn Entertainment additional time for final polishing and bug fixes.

The game launched as a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, continuing Cal Kestis’s story five years after the first game. Its release was notable because it initially targeted current-generation consoles and PC rather than the older PlayStation 4 and Xbox One hardware.

The date can be confused with later ports. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions arrived on September 17, 2024, but those were not the first release. May 4 is also widely associated with Star Wars celebrations, yet it was not Survivor’s launch date.
