On what date was rogal świętomarciński entered in an EU protected register?

The story behind the answer

Rogal świętomarciński was entered in the European Union’s protected-designation register on 30 October 2008.

The registration classified the pastry as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), linking the protected name to its traditional production area in and around Poznań, Poland. The European Commission adopted Regulation (EC) No 1070/2008 for the registration.

This pastry is associated especially with St. Martin’s Day, celebrated on 11 November. It is made from laminated pastry and traditionally filled with white poppy seeds, almonds or nuts, raisins, butter, sugar and other ingredients. The date of registration is easy to confuse with the celebration date: 11 November is the feast day, while 30 October 2008 is the legal registration date.

A further technical detail sometimes causes confusion. The regulation was dated 30 October, while the regulation was published in the Official Journal on 31 October and entered into force later. The quiz asks when the name was entered, making 30 October 2008 the canonical answer.
