Answer
September 22, 2017
Pokkén Tournament DX was released for Nintendo Switch on September 22, 2017.
Pokkén Tournament DX is an enhanced Nintendo Switch version of the Pokémon fighting game Pokkén Tournament. Bandai Namco Studios developed the title, combining Pokémon characters with fighting-game ideas associated with the company’s Tekken and Soulcalibur series.
The original Pokkén Tournament appeared in Japanese arcades in 2015 and reached the Wii U worldwide in 2016. The DX edition expanded the roster and included the fighters added to the arcade version, along with an additional exclusive fighter and new game modes.
The Switch release preceded Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! by more than a year. Those 2018 titles were the first main-series Pokémon games on a home console, but Pokkén Tournament DX arrived earlier as a spin-off fighting game. Additional DX downloadable content later added Aegislash and Blastoise as playable fighters.
